Thank you for your interest in CrowLaws.org.
About the Founder/Editor: This site was created and is administered by Gerald "Jay" Harris (J.D., University of Colorado; B.S. Rocky Mountain College; MPA Candidate, University of Montana), a licensed attorney and member of the Crow Tribal General Council who is currently employed as Staff Attorney for the Crow Tribal Legislature.
CrowLaws.org is intended as a free, informational service to all interested persons, and especially Crow tribal members.
Special thanks go to: the Crow Tribal Legislature and staff, the Montana Department of Justice, the Montana State Law Library, the University of Montana Jameson Law Library, the University of Colorado Law Library, the Billings federal depository library, WestLaw, Angela Russell, A.J. Not Afraid, Bill Watt, Frank Merchant, Majel Russell and Ron Arneson.
Note: The Founder/Editor is currently involved in litigation with Eldena Bear Don't Walk, the former Chief Appellate Court Judge, in Crow Tribal Court over the administration of the January 2010 Crow Tribal Bar Exam. As a result, the Crow Tribal Bar Exam was enjoined from taking place (under order from Special Judge William Eggers) during the July 2010, January 2011, July 2011, and January 2012 testing terms. The Founder/Editor is hoping for a speedy and just resolution to this lawsuit.
Update: On March 6th, 2012 a special panel of the Crow Court of Appeals reversed the lower court, ruling that sovereign immunity bars any suit against Eldena Bear Don't Walk for her administration of the Crow bar exam. Click here for a copy of the opinion.
